Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s
leading lift truck manufacturers headquartered in
New Bremen, Ohio, believes continuing education
is important for their employees. While Crown’s
Education Center provides a variety of training classes,
when it comes to training welders and certifying welding
inspectors, Crown has turned to Hobart Institute of
Welding Technology (HIWT) as its training provider.
Several Crown employees have received their American
            Welding Society welding inspector certification
following the Preparation for AWS CWI/CWE
Examination Course at Hobart Institute. Additionally,
other employees have earned the status of AWS Certified
Welding Supervisor after taking HIWT’s preparation
            course for that examination.
“Our training benefits Crown because its workforce
includes certified welding inspectors and supervisor,
which helps increase the quality of the products,” said Crown’s C-5 Series pneumatic industrial forklift for heavy-duty
Ed Rolfes, manufacturing unit manager at Crown’s Celina facility. and outdoor applications. The Crown C-5 offers 12 percent more

Welders who have been trained at Hobart often become Crown up to two times longer resulting in 87 percent less maintenance
employees. checks than comparable forklifts, and comes equipped with a 90

“Whenever we have openings for welders, we think first of Hobart
Institute graduates because we are confident in the training they
            have received,” Rolfes added.
