                   LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

While doing time in prison, I found a passion for welding I will be sending this to my Superintendent at the Board of
through a program offered to inmates. I have learned to weld Education for him to take a look at and to make sure he keeps
in all positions using all processes. Along the way, I ran across the welding program in mind during budget time! With Mr.
your magazine and I find it so inspiring to see young men and Odermatt’s permission, I will reference his article and use the
women using their time in a positive manner. Welding may be chart and stats he has published. Naturally I will be telling
just a process to some, but it’s a way of life to others. Welding them also about the excellent opportunity we have at Hobart
sure has changed my life. Thanks for the magazine! Institute of Welding Technology for training and jobs. Once
~ D. Navarro, Texas again thank you for all of your help, time and effort to help me
change the image of welding in my own small way.
I just got my packet of “World of Welding” and once again you ~ Biazzio Giordano, Parkside High School, Salisbury, MD
did a great job on my students and our program. Especially
interesting was Andre’ Odermatt’s article on college and
graduation rates as this has been the cornerstone of my speech This month’s magazine [Winter 2010/11] was really great
to students who come through the program. reading... I especially enjoyed articles on art welding and
juvenile offenders’ welding. ~ Gregory Johnson
Also “Ask the Recruiter” is a great addition, I have used it www.gregoryjohnson.biz
as a lesson plan to my senior class and though they might not
pay close attention to the English teacher (who does not cover
resume writing) but they are all ears when they see it can help
get a really good job. And let me not forget the articles on art
that you feature, a personal favorite as fine art is one of my
                   hobbies.
