Welding Students Create Thunder
Calvin Scharrer, part of the Hobart
Institute of Welding Technology’s
Marketing and Career Development
team, attended the 2016 Welding
without Borders which was held in
Las Vegas at the annual FABTECH
welding convention.
The Welding without Borders is a
philanthropic organization which
allows students of all ages from
High School to College, to compete
using their welding skills learned
at their local facilities throughout
the Northern Arizona, Southern
California, and Southern Nevada.
The competition was held during
the few days that FABTECH was in
Las Vegas. The students were given
blueprints of the items they were
to fabricate throughout the two day
competition. There were 17 schools
who traveled from the different
