Here at Hobart Institute of Welding
Technology, we employ on staff 19 AWS Certifed Welding Inspectors (CWI ). This
®
®
highly respected industry credential does several things for the Institute. It is utilized
extensively for our corporate services business and for instructor quality teaching
methodologies. It is a core requirement for our instructor staff to achieve CWI
®
status as it is a direct beneft to the students education.
We are not university professors or welding engineers, we are real world experienced
welders that have passion for education. This has led to a marketing campaign
we recently launched in the fall of 2018, its headline is Because You Demand the
Very Best. As a career college we must always be conscious of how we promote
ourselves to the public. We must avoid misleading statements and untruths regarding

Graduating over 400 skill students throughout the year by way of our accredited
programs, those skill instructors being CWI s, show the students that becoming a

welding inspector is a great career path. Here at the Institute we offer a 2 week (9
day, testing on day 10) prep course to prepare individuals for the AWS CWI Exam.

This is a program we have offered for 41 years and in 2019 we are offering 13 such
courses.
