By Marty Baker, Editor
Just a few years out of high school and Joshua Willford of
Columbus, Ohio, is well on his way to becoming a professional
metal worker. Josh graduated from Whetstone High School
in 2008 and worked as a training specialist with the Franklin
County Board of Developmental Disabilities before attending
Hobart Institute in 2011. By that time, he and his father, Byron,
had both become acquainted with blacksmithing through a
family friend and had spent much time as apprentices learning
the techniques of a master blacksmith.
“I love working with my hands with metal and wood and
seeing progress being made,” says Josh. “I also enjoy drawing
and artistic photography.”
“You’ve achieved success in your field when you don’t know
whether what you’re doing is work or play.” (Warren Beatty,
actor, producer, screenwriter and director)
Joshua Willfod formed the recycled rose petals from an old bathroom
cabinet. The one-inch scrap metal block was used for a heart.
