Checking In With HIWT Alumni: Kyle Hall With UA Local 166-Ft. Wayne, Indiana

Kyle graduated in May 2012 from HIWTs Combination and
            Structural Program.

Q: What have you been up to since you graduated in May
                  2012?

A: I have been working a lot. My goal ever since leaving
HIWT was to be a pipeftter and I have been with Local
166 for 2 years now. I had a job as soon as I left HIWT, but
was waiting on a call from the UA and in March 2013 I joined their
            apprentice program.
Q: How did you become interested in welding?

A: It really started in High School. I took 2 years of welding
at Impact Institute and just fell in love with welding. I
remember having Janet Piechocki visiting my school and
telling us all about HIWT. I knew right then, thats where I wanted
            to go.

Q: So, you attend HIWT right after you graduated from high
                  school?

A: No, I actually got a welding job right away and saved
every penny I made to pay for school. I welded for a solid
year before I attended HIWT. I worked for a company
welding stainless steel pipe. I learned a lot about welding pipe and Kyle Hall holding his Certifed Welding Inspector certifcate from AWS.

Q: What was your favorite thing about attending HIWT? Q: course and exam How did you do?

A: The hands on experience really helped me develop my A: I passed! I have always wanted to be a CWI, but I knew I
had to serve my time in the industry. When local 166 told
skills. I also made some great friends during my 9 months
at HIWT. me I could take the course and exam, I knew I was coming
back to HIWT. I wanted to come back to a familiar place.
