Checking In With HIWT Alumni: Kyle Hall With UA Local 166-Ft. Wayne, Indiana
Kyle graduated in May 2012 from HIWTs Combination and
Structural Program.
Q: What have you been up to since you graduated in May
2012?
A: I have been working a lot. My goal ever since leaving
HIWT was to be a pipeftter and I have been with Local
166 for 2 years now. I had a job as soon as I left HIWT, but
was waiting on a call from the UA and in March 2013 I joined their
apprentice program.
Q: How did you become interested in welding?
A: It really started in High School. I took 2 years of welding
at Impact Institute and just fell in love with welding. I
remember having Janet Piechocki visiting my school and
telling us all about HIWT. I knew right then, thats where I wanted
to go.
Q: So, you attend HIWT right after you graduated from high
school?
A: No, I actually got a welding job right away and saved
every penny I made to pay for school. I welded for a solid
year before I attended HIWT. I worked for a company
