Zach Hasting Earns American FFA Degree
By Zach Hasting (Son of Mark Hasting, HIWT Certification Lab)
FFA member Zach Hasting was awarded the American FFA Degree
at the annual FFA National Convention in October. Only 1 percent
of students in the national FFA organization achieve this honor.
Zach started the application process in December of 2016. The
application consists of compiling all records of a “Supervised
Agricultural Experience” otherwise known as an “SAE”, as well
as providing any other previous accomplishments earned through
the FFA Organization. For the Supervised Agricultural Experience,
Zach repaired and maintained equipment for local farmers and his
school, and the profits were used to fund antique tractor restoration
projects. “I was informed that I would receive the award May of
2017. On October 28th I attended the National FFA Convention in
Indianapolis and was awarded the National FFA American Degree”.
FFA is an intra-curricular student organization for those interested
in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of
agricultural education. In FFA, there are a series of accomplishments
one can achieve, the highest being the American FFA Degree. To
receive this honor, a student must meet a set of requirements and
must be actively involved in the organization. A student must also
keep records of all projects to submit with the application. HIWT
congratulates Zach on his accomplishment. Zach Hasting above right
