AWS Mid-West Welding Competition

The AWS Mid-West Welding Competition began about 40 years
®
ago with some Indiana teachers looking to make their students
test their skills to become better welders. The American Welding
Society has been sponsoring it but ultimately began running it 20
years ago. In recent years, schools from other states that span as
far as Pennsylvania to Missouri began coming to the competition
as well. It has been been held at different school facilities over
the years but it is currently held at J. Everett Light in Indianapolis
Indiana. If you wish to participate in this event, please contact Eric

THE PURPOSE OF THE AWS MIDWEST SECONDARY
®
CAREER TECH TEAM WELDING TOURNAMENT IS:
• To promote the welding skills of all career tech welding
students.
• To provide an opportunity for recognition for outstanding welding
students
• To provide an opportunity for inter-school, inter-state
competition, and fellowship among students, instructors,
advisory members, and directors.
• To provide a window of opportunity to showcase our students
and the quality of work they are capable of to our communities,
as well as, prospective employers from the industry.
• To provide motivation for beginning student welders to become
trade worthy and highly skilled.
• To help promote and foster a healthy respect and dignity for all
welding trades DO YOUR OWN TESTING
