COMPETITION BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS AT WITC

Students at Wisconsin
Indianhead Technical
College (WITC) met
challenges and their
counterparts head-on
during their annual
welding competition.

“We have organized our
own welding contest on
campus for the past 5
years,” explained John
Palmer, Welding In-
structor and AWS certi-
fied welding inspector.
“The last two years we
have included a weld-
ing school from Canada
to be involved in the
contest.”

Students from WITC-
Superior and WITC-
New Richmond
competed against rep-
resentatives from Lake
Superior College and Student winners in the SMAW Competition include Seth Mowers, WITC-Superior; Jon Warder, WITC-
Confederation College in Superior; and Kael Drager, Confederation College.
Thunder Bay, Ontario,
Canada. In the GTAW Competition, winners included Cody Popovich, WITC-Superior; Greg Stolpe, Lake Superior
College; and Reece Chezick, Lake Superior College.
