3rd Annual Welding Rodeo

Friday, April 24th set the date for the 3rd annual Welding Rodeo The theme of this rodeo was Transportation in the 21st Century
put on by Springfeld-Clark CTC in Ohio. This one was a little and the teams of students brainstormed on what to build. Next,
different from the last two though. Jason Hatfelds class from the teams had to come up with a drawing and blueprint of what
Wyoming County Career Center in Pineville, WV was up visiting they would build from the heaping piles of scrap metal donated by
Hobart Institute and was invited to participate by Brian Massie, local welding companies. When it was time to do the Scrap Run,
the welding teacher and master of ceremonies for the event. Both it was as if someone yelled, Release the hounds! Students took
Mr. Massie and Mr. Hatfeld are Hobart alum so it was a good off running towards the piles of metal like a herd of stampeding
opportunity for them to meet. Mr. Hatfeld brought some of his buffalo. After everyone was satisfed with the metal they chose,
seniors along with him and they were mixed in with the existing they began to build their sculptures. Winners were announced at 4
teams by drawing numbers. p.m. Sculptures were auctioned off at the end of the event and the
students were able to raise $1662.00 for the Veterans Memorial
Park in Springfeld, OH.
