A Couple That Welds Together, Stays Together
Zoie (Zirger) and Zach Copley met at Hobart Institute during their
training. The HIWT couple married in Findlay, Ohio October 31,
2015. Zoie graduated in 2012 from HIWT and Zach wasn’t too far
behind in 2013.
Zoie works as a pipefitter out of UA Local 50 and Zach is millwright
fabricator at Findlay Machine & Tool.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Copley!
Fess up and take responsibility -it goes a long way. Then when that
GMAW welder shows up ask him for some pointers. Watch him at
work. Write down all his machine settings, in case he is gone again,
you know how to set it up while being more knowledgeable.
Freshly out of a trade school or equivalent, you are not going to
make top dollar. An employer seeing you just graduated will offer
entry level pay and know you have a lot to learn.
Find that job, stay at that job and learn everything about it. Do not
let others bring you down. Put your time in, what you don’t want is
a pattern on your resume, three months at this job then six months
at this job.
Employers like to see someone they can invest in. I never got in
trouble while working in Wyoming. I think it was due to the fact
I was never late. I never called in and I worked overtime when
needed. I was a trust-worthy and reliable employee. My boss knew
I would do what I needed to do to get the job done.
What an employer does not want is a person who they are going
to train, and invest resources to quit in a week. Then add the cost
of the next employee and maybe the next employee. It all adds
up. When employees quit, jobs get behind making that employer
unreliable to their customers.
I encourage you to stick it out, stay positive the God's honest truth
is your company is making of money off you, your boss does make
more than you, and directors do make more than you it is a fact of
life. Your company also has the bottom line to pay for.
''If you want to change the world, you must first change yourself.''
remember that. You want a change...be the change. Until next time
be safe and positive, stay open minded.
