James Allison and his son Levi completed
the Combination Structural and Pipe Welding
Program while stepson Tyler Dodge completed the
Structural Welding Program at Hobart Institute of
Welding Technology. The idea of attending came
when James decided to take a welding class at
Sinclair Community College and fell in love with
it. James and Levi came for a tour but needed to
come up with a plan on how to get here. James
discussed coming with Levi and their plans were
            put into place.
Initially it was just going to be Levi enrolling in
school, but then James took the plunge and then
Tyler decided to come along as well. Levi had
already been welding since the 5th grade and was
excited to get his educational career started.
The plan for after graduation was to start a family
business. However, Levi got an offer he couldn’t
turn down at the place where he and his father
James worked. Levi was offered an apprentice
welding engineer position that he gladly accepted.
In the meantime, Tyler got a job closer to home
with a shorter drive and is very happy where he is
            at now.
James had one piece of advice he wanted to
impart to future students. “Stay in your booth and L-R: James Allison, Tyler Dodge and Levi Allison
make the most of your time at school because
it will pay off in the long run”. We wish James,
Levi and Tyler continued success in their welding
careers. They are now part of our HIWT family.
