Steve Tirpak Retires from Hobart Institute of
Welding Technology Board of Directors

Hobart Institute of Welding Technology Board of Directors Member Steve Tirpak retired from the Institute’s
Board of Directors on October 29, 2021. Steve was elected to the Board in 2014 after serving on the
school’s Program Advisory Committee from 1999 – 2014. Steve served the Institute as a board member
during a period of extreme growth. His accomplishments as a board member include the construction of
the Technical Center which was opened in 2016 and the renovation of the main campus to relocate several
classrooms and the addition of 70 new arc welding booths. Reflecting on his service to HIWT, Steve
expressed, “Serving on the PAC and Board of Directors has been a pure joy for me over these past 20 years
or so. Continued good luck and continued growth for Hobart School of Welding (sic).”
“Steve’s 15-year contributions to the Institute as a Program Advisory Committee (PAC) Member were enormous and highly appreciated” states Scott A.
Mazzulla, President & CEO of the Institute. “Steve making the transition from PAC Member to Board of Directors member was a natural next step in
helping the school. Steve’s extensive knowledge of the school made his impact as a board member highly valued.”
