Here a Job, There a Job, Everywhere a Job, Job!

       By: Melinda Gladish
Hobart Institute held two of our three annual job
fairs in May and June. These fairs are designed
to give students the opportunity to speak with
employers in various fields. As students move
through the welding program, they are taught
different welding processes and speak with their
instructors about careers, and how they relate to
the process they are learning. These fairs allow
students to speak with representatives from
different industries about what a day in the life
would look like, what skills are needed, and how
to apply. All students, regardless of where they
are in their program (beginning, middle or end) are
invited to the fairs. The total number of employers
that attended the job fairs were 87 - eighty-seven
opportunities for students to learn about and
       obtain welding jobs post-graduation.
A central theme I hear after each job fair is how
well prepared and professional our students are.
They approach the employers with an extended
hand, look them in the eye, have resumes prepared
and are genuinely interested in hearing about
the companies. This is a direct testament to the
attention given to students by our Instructor Staff
       and the Career Development Team.
I offer a big thank you to all employers who attend
our fair and the staff that make it run seamlessly.
