HIWT Participates in SKILLS USA Events

       Each year, high school career center students from around
       the country participate in a competition in their respective
       fields of study on a regional, district, state and then national
       level. Whether that be Welding, Construction, Carpentry,
       Cosmetology, Culinary, IT, Plumbing or any other field that is
       taught at a career center.
       Hobart Institute has the privilege of hosting the Southwest
       Regional Welding and Fabrication competition on our
       campus. This brings students from a portion of SW Ohio to
       the school to compete. They take a written test and then
       are given prints for a project that includes oxyfuel cutting,
       and fitting/welding in the Shielded Metal Arc Welding,
       Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding   Brianna Anderson, 1st Place Individual   Logan Willwerth, Casey Dillman & Trevor
       Processes.  They are graded on their cutting skills and if the   Welding Competition  Shannon, 1st Place Fabrication Team
       assembly conforms to the print they are given. This year's
       individual welding competition winners were: First Place
       - Brianna Anderson, Diamond Oaks CTC, Second Place -
       Kaiden Boggs, Springfield Clark CTC and third place - Cayden
       Willis, Miami Valley CTC. Welding Fabrication winners were
       Logan Willwerth, Casey Dillman & Trevor Shannon, Diamond
       Oaks CTC, Second Place Taft Hargrove, Andrew Levering &
       Cooper Bentley, Butler Tech/D Russel Lee and Third Place
       Eduardo Mahan, Augustus Henry & Razziel Garber, Upper
       Valley CTC. Brianna Anderson of Diamond Oaks CTC went
       on to win first place in the Individual Welding Competition
       at the Ohio State Competition and Bronze at the National
       Competition.
       The State Competition is then held in Columbus, OH in April
       and the National Competition is held at the Georgia World
       Congress Center in Atlanta, GA in June. Hobart Institute   Kaiden Boggs, Second Place Individual   Taft Hargrove, Andrew Levering & Cooper
       had a booth at both events and spoke with students about   Welding Competition  Bentley, 2nd Place Fabrication Team
       careers in welding and the Program offering at the Institute.
       Hobart Institute of Welding would like to congratulate all of
       the contestants of the various competitions.
