There is potential for this to expand to other states. Major
companies are securing permits and leases to operate in the

So why does this hold the interest of Hobart Institute students
and graduates? The answer is simply “jobs.” Welders will
be needed at each site and while some of these may come
from within the oil-producing companies, many more will be
needed to fill all the positions that are expected to be created.

This is not a short-term project. Welders will be needed over Rob and his

Utica Shale would create or support more than 200,000 Ohio
jobs in all the various disciplines. Welders are needed, not
only at the drill sites, but also many spin-off jobs are being
created as manufacturing of pipe, tanks, and other related
            equipment will be needed.

Hobart Institute wants you to be ready to work! These
companies want trained welders with good, employable skills.
Many schools are jumping on the bandwagon and ramping
up to train workers. Hobart Institute is well-established
with a strong, proven, reputable program for Combination
Structural and Pipe Welding that can be completed in just nine
months and you can hit the ground running. Along with this
program, students obtain certifications to American Welding
Society D1.1 and B2.1 codes in shielded metal arc welding
(6G position, 6-inch pipe to unlimited thickness) gas tungsten
arc welding (2G and 5G positions, 2-inch pipe) and flux
cored arc welding (3G and 4G positions, plate of unlimited
thickness). VA benefits may be used toward this program for
those who qualify. Other financing may also be available.
