HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION PREPARES CHARLES BRITT

FOR INTERESTING CAREER

“I came to Hobart Institute to further my education in shielded
metal arc welding of pipe. I am already a certified welding
inspector,” said Charles Britt, who has spent the last eight
years welding in mostly artistic settings. “I had heard about
Hobart from friends and teachers.”
Charles is a graduate of Alfred University with a bachelor
of fine arts degree. After completing an internship in Santa
Fe, New Mexico, he worked as a fabricator for several years
with the Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry, a full-service fine art
foundry in Rock Tavern, New York.

At the fine art foundry, some of the world’s most recognized
and well-crafted sculptures have become reality. A variety
of artists bring in prototypes or sometimes just conceptual
drawings. It is the job of the team of artisans at the foundry
to bring the design from concept to completion. Some pieces
are fabricated while others are sand casted. Many times, the
welder works closely with the artist throughout the process.
