THE WORLD OF WELDING http://www.welding.org

HOBART INSTITUTE HELPS PRESERvE 9/11 ARTIFACT
            (Continued from page 17)

The panels are reinforced with metal rods and welded
together. The stainless steel is then polished to a glossy
mirror image by Source 1 Alloys/Glenn Grayson who
donated and machined the panels. In the interest of keeping
the piece portable, the base is constructed of mahogany by
Stull Woodworks, Inc. and the towers are bolted to the base.
The work was then encased by an acrylic cover made by
            Specialty Plastic Fabrications Inc.

“It is an honor to work on this piece in memory of those who
have served our country and those who lost their lives in the
911 tragedy,” stated Ron Scott, Vice President and General
            Manager of Hobart Institute.

It all made perfect sense that Hobart Institute was involved
in the project. Welders-- and indeed some who were trained
at Hobart Institute -- built the original World Trade Center.

home of the artifact for many generations to come.”
