The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) and
the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation have awarded
two scholarships to Hobart Institute students Corey Sestak of
Perrysburg, Ohio, and Joshua Honaker of Lewisburg, West Virginia.
This is the first time these particular scholarships have been awarded
to someone pursuing technical education.
Both students are enrolled in the Combination Structural and Pipe
Program at the Hobart Institute. To be eligible for the scholarships,
the students must have a career goal in the crude oil or natural gas
industry or a related field.
“In 2010, Ohio celebrated its 150 Anniversary of the first commercial
th
well drilled in the state. Since then, more than 273,000 natural gas
Joshua Honaker and crude oil wells have been drilled. Changes in technology and Corey Sestak
energy demand are driving the need to encourage more students to
pursue careers in domestic energy production. By establishing scholarship opportunities, we want to reward these outstanding
students who will certainly help develop, produce and supply tomorrow’s energy needs,” states Rhonda Reda, Executive
Director, OOGEEP and the Foundation.
“Hobart Institute appreciates the support given to our students by the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program and
Foundation,” says Scott Mazzulla, Director of Planning and Development at Hobart Institute. “The assistance provided
certainly goes a long way toward helping students meet their educational goals.”
